The World Rookie Tour is back for the 2009.10 season. This tour will give youngsters the opportunity to become a World Rookie Champion, win some rad prizes, and a chance to enter the professional level of snowboarding by competing in these global junior events from 1Star to 4Star Swatch TTR level.
The competition also features activities to help rookies grow in the field of professional snowboarding, such as photo & video shootings, avalanche and rescue clinics, meeting with photographers and international team managers, parties and big prizes.

Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest, Vallnord, Andorra – 2Star – 18.20 December 2009
Protest World Rookie Fest – Livigno, Italy – 3Star – 16.20 January 2010
Protest Balkan Rookie Fest – Iver Mokra Gora, Serbia – 2Star – 12.14 February 2010
Protest East Rookie Fest – Splinderuv Mlyn, Czech Republic – 2Star – 5.7 March 2010
Protest World Rookie Finals – Ischgl, Austria – 4Star – 7.11 April 2010
Freeride Rookie Fest – Valle Nevado, Chile – 2Star – august 2010 (reserved to the best rookies of the season)
Prizes include:
- For the World Rookie Champion: a filming session with Pirate Movie Production, an international photo shooting, a freeride trip to Chile and a ticket to a world class event
-The winners from Livigno, Ischgl and the number 1 of the World Rookie Rank will win an all-inclusive trip to the “Freeride Rookie Fest 2010” in Chile to live a one in a lifetime freeride filming experience with international RedBull pros.
- At every stop, winner will get “Tickets to Ride” higher level events
- Before every event many other amazing prizes will be announced, which will support the career of the best rookies who wish to become professional riders.

Our pals over at Pop Magazine threw a huge premiere party over the weekend for People Creative’s new film, Nice Try. Of course, Nice Try is the new snowboard film featuring our teamster Robbie Walker. Melbourne just happens to be Robbie’s home town, so you can guess how that went down. 240 people packed into the downtown Kaleide Theatre to drink free VB Raw’s, get free DVD’s from VAS and free loot from Billabong and K2 Snowboards. All in all, the night was a big success and the crowd seemed to love the film. Besides the photos here, there’s a bunch more over at the Pop website if you’re in the mood.

Gatorade Free Flow Tour just announced the 2010 tour schedule. Gatorade is looking for the top amateur winter athletes across the U.S. Kicking off at Big Boulder Ski Area and Vail Ski Resort Jan 9-10 (full schedule below). The overall snowboard and freeskier superpipe and slopestyle champions will have a chance to compete with the pros at the Winter Dew Tour the following 2010-11 season.

Description: This fundraiser offers women of all ages and disciplines: the opportunity to be involved in an all women\’s snow event, make a difference by fundraising for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and have a ton of fun skiing and riding with the K2 Alliance, their friends and other women teams for a day!
On December 12th, 2009 at Keystone Resort, CO, teams of 3 women will compete against each other by trying to ski the most vertical feet. On event day, each team will receive a mountain package that includes: vertical data of each run, checkpoints around the mountain that earn teams’ additional vertical bonus, and tally sheets to record their vertical acquired. Teams must determine the best approach with the access of several lifts, multiple trails, and the assortment of checkpoints around the mountain. Teams are encouraged to dress up, or accessorize in pink. Off the mountain, teams are encouraged to fundraise for the cause up till a day before the event.
